The adventures direction in Frozen Spawn.

Frozen Spawn, in some old places referred to as Frozen Palace Spawn, is a server spawn used from October 2019 to May 21, 2023. It was used after City Spawn but before Star Spawn.

Layout[edit]

The starting area of Frozen Spawn is split into four directions leading to different types of maps: Parkour, Maze, Puzzle, and Adventure. Within the dropdowns, areas for pure, mixed, and FFA+ maps of each genre were stored, although each of the areas had their own caveats to this.

  • The Parkour branch included a dropdown to Dropper maps. It also has a button that links to Training.
  • The Puzzle branch included a dropdown to Search maps.
  • The Adventure branch has a Co-op area instead of a mixed adventure area.

Each of the map type branches also had their own recommended maps sections.

In the center area are two more points of interest. The first is a warp to The Legacy Project. The second is three new map boards featuring the nine most recent maps made before switching to Star Spawn: Jump Jumble, Vista, Mirror Image, Ebu, Arkham Asylum, Nocturne, The Floor is Lava!, Dave's Caves, and Flower Garden.
In the four quadrants made by the map paths are different areas of interest: Challenges, Hardcore, Events, and Arcade.

Spawn Secrets[edit]

Frozen Spawn has a secret unassessed map: Frozen Spawn Parkour.

This spawn received two secret questlines. One was to visit a new Hardcore version early, and the other is the infamous original Agatha questline.

Spawn Variants[edit]

There is only one variant of Frozen Spawn: Black Water Spawn. This spawn variant was used during Purple Comet V.

Spawn History[edit]

In 2019, the Spawn Competition 2019 occurred to update the then current spawn City Spawn with a new aesthetic. Frozen Spawn was the winning spawn of the competition, and became the server spawn in October 2019.

Frozen Spawn remained the same for most of its life, with some areas expanding over time as the number of maps increased enough for some niche genres to receive their own rooms. One problem grew gradually over time with the spawn, however: lag. There were so many map signs stored in close proximity that they began to cause frequent disconnects for players logging into the spawn's center. Eventually, it was decided that the dropdowns would need to teleport players into distant map areas separated from each other to reduce the lag. This led to the creation of the first Agatha questline to rescue a snowman named Agatha stuck in the original Serene FFA+ box.

In 2023, wavelyte began a long project to create a new server spawn with lessons learned from Frozen Spawn. The main important changes were to increase the number of dropdowns players had access to and to make FFA+ areas appear first to players instead of FFA maps. In May 21, 2023, Star Spawn became the new server spawn, and Frozen spawn was retired.

Trivia[edit]

  • Walking into the center of spawn gave players a written book called A Beginner's Guide to Zero. This book contained basic information about the server and a unique stats page at the end. Some players took to collecting the guidebooks of other players due to this.
  • The spawn was originally meant to receive its own head hunt similar to City Spawn Head Hunt. This map was never finished, however.
