General[edit]

Content Warnings and Accessibility[edit]

Resignation features several effects that can trigger epilepsy. The beginning of the map has a required confirmation for whether the player is fine with epilepsy-inducing effects or not.

There is also a toggle at the beginning of the map to change how much gore/body horror is depicted in cutscenes throughout the map.

Resignation's story features several dark themes, such as violence, gore, death, allusions to suicide, and profanity.

Story[edit]

Dr. Ira is part of a team attempting to channel dimensional energy to fix the Cataclysm, a disease that has already claimed 350 million. After succeeding in gathering the energy needed, she is killed by Feros. Falling in a void and about to die, she is saved by a force named Whispers. She is tasked with opening the portal in Inastone's Cathedral to get home, constantly facing obstacles along the way.

Gameplay[edit]

The Main Map.

Resignation is a lengthy adventure map that features navigating through a large world full of Ferals that fight the player. Because of this, combat versus mobs plays a significant role in the map. At the beginning, the player can choose between several different classes, each of which fulfills different niches. Key items are commonly picked up by clicking black exclamation point player heads, and hidden loot is picked up by clicking white exclamation point heads. Bosses and cutscenes are both triggered by clicking pink exclamation point heads, with bosses typically featuring more difficult enemies in a giant room.

Dying beyond the intro, including in boss rooms, respawns the player in the hospital. There is a map in the hospital of Inastone, and most unlocked shortcuts connect near the area. Upon joining back into Inastone, armor and offhand equipment needed to be re-equipped, which can also include combat gear that are direct upgrades to class equipment. Most areas in the map will also kill players back to the hospital to prevent de-loading mobs.

Besides fighting mobs, there is a wide variety of gameplay the map requires for completion. Most frequent are mazes and parkours, both of which require being able to complete red-difficulty maps of their type to beat Resignation. Puzzles and searches are also common in the map as well. Since the map does not continuously give the player saturation, managing food is a necessary consideration in some areas.

Aesthetics[edit]

Most of Resignation takes place in one gigantic valley with stone walls covered in slimy vines and sculk. Each of the individual areas in the map are distinct, with most of them using gray or black blocks as a base.

Map Series[edit]

Resignation is the fifth map in a series called Fire and Flowers. The series began as several redstone puzzle maps that share a story before allowing for more diverse gameplay about the same story after three entries. The maps in the series are listed below.

Challenges[edit]

This map is featured in 2 challenges: 2025 Assortment and Hexa. Resignation also has several required deaths which make limited lives challenges more difficult.

Trivia[edit]

  • While the map does not feature as many checkpoints as maps like Odysseus and Gearburn: Alone at Night, the volume of cutscenes and length of the Inastone world gameplay makes Resignation one of the longest maps on the server.
  • The map began as an entry for Maze Competition 2021 with PVE mazes. Scope creep kept the map in development until January 2025 where it was finally submitted to Board.
