Gearburn: Alone at Night is a pure parkour map by Viceinc, kor0sense1, and Vermilion_Stone. It rewards 25 FFA Points upon completion, and can be joined directly using “/c join gba”.

General[edit]

Story[edit]

You've been recruited to serve in the Republic Air Force! Unfortunately, your plane is quickly shot down by the Sky Raiders. Just when you wake, the gates to the city close! Traverse your way around the city to meet with the other pilots. Then, play the sequel, Gearburn: The Savior, to save the city!

Gameplay[edit]

The player starts in the crashed plane. The parkour is mainly separated into four large islands around the central island. The first island mostly consists of sectioned parkour, in which there are relatively few, but still more than one, jumps per checkpoint. The player then crosses the underside of two bridges before jumping to the very bottom of the next island. This island mostly consists of one-jumps, in which there is only one jump per checkpoint or fail-safed area. After this is a train, with one small section of a more "normal" length, and then another one-jump. After this is a blimp, with several jumps on the outside before coming inside, with two one-jumps there. The next jump is a 45° strafe, in which the player must turn to 45° and strafe in the corresponding direction to complete the jump. Afterwards is a short checkpoint before two checkpoints of endurance parkour. This parkour consists of many jumps in each checkpoint, though most jumps are relatively easy. After jumping to the roof, and then the mayor's helicopter, the player jumps to a pirate ship. The player is detained and must escape the prison and then complete several checkpoints of trapdoor flip parkour. Although not allowed elsewhere on Minr, in these checkpoints, the player must jump on flipped trapdoors that immediately flip back, meaning that the player has to worry about not only player movement with their turn but also if they can click the trapdoor in the right tick. After this, the player parkours over to the final island. This island must be completed without sprint, an ironic choice given that the island is based on food, having gardens, trees, and industrial crop harvesters before the final meat processing plant. Having no sprint makes several included jumps which are trivial with sprint, such as the corner pane-up, much more difficult. The player eventually regains their sprint by eating some suspicious meat, and climbs on the smoke to the final checkpoint. The final checkpoint starts with a difficult slime jump before several more jumps to reach the aviation take-off zone, where the player finds the other pilots and completes the map.

Aesthetics[edit]

The map takes place near a floating steampunk city during a cloudy and stormy night with lightning, and in the area are many different floating islands, gears, and hot air balloons. Stripped spruce and copper are the most prominent blocks throughout the map. The first island has two tall buildings made of wood with stone brick roofs and one shorter building with a smokestack on top made of stone and andesite. Between each of the islands are several floating houses and hot air balloons, but between this and the next island in particular are two floating bridges. This next island has a lot going on in the middle of it, seeming to be a mining operation in the island. Also present are two cranes and a refinery building on the surface. One of the cranes is loading a crate of goods into a train, made of oxidized copper and dark prismarine. Inbetween this island and the next island is a blimp, made up of almost exclusively brown terracotta. The next island is dominated by a large mansion, with similar themes to most of the other houses, being made up of mostly stripped spruce wood and copper, with stone brick roofs. Dominating the space in-between this island and the next is a large pirate ship. The ship is made of mostly stripped acacia and jungle woods, as well as orange terracotta and the ever-present stripped spruce wood. The sails of the ship are made of white wool with black wool for the pattern in them. The next island is based on food, having gardens, trees, industrial crop harvesters, a barn, and a meat processing center. Between this island and the first island are several islands dedicated to storing various types of aircraft. Throughout the map, the center city dominates the view, but the player does not enter the city in the map.

Challenges[edit]

This map is featured in 6 challenges: Gearburn: Surviving at Night, Gearburn: Together at Night, Helpless at Night, Hexa, Pure Pain Marathon, and Pure Pain Marathon - Deluxe.

Trivia[edit]

  • This map has the most checkpoints of any FFA map (31), and just misses the most checkpoints of any map by one (the current map with the most checkpoints is Happy Fun Time Tower of Vertical Ascension and Grandure! with 32 checkpoints).
  • Although there are 31 checkpoints in the map, the player will not use either checkpoints 24 or 25 (this is due to the symmetry of the pirate ship, and only one side is required to be completed).
  • When the project was started, only the first island was planned.
