General[edit]
Gameplay[edit]
The maze tasks the player with getting to a large diamond ore block, and a large number of mazes stands between the player and the end of the map. The player is set to half a heart in the entire map, meaning that falling more than three blocks onto solid ground will kill them. The map recommends the player is able to beat Moderate difficulty parkour before attempting the mazes. There are three middle checkpoints in the map that save the player's progress when clicked. Players are able to use signs on a tree close to a bed at the start to return to a later checkpoint they have reached.
Aesthetics[edit]
The map is built entirely out of blocks available in Minecraft Version 1.0. Only a few sparse areas throughout the map use blocks from after this version and are typically done to prevent issues like map escapes or sequence breaks (with the use of barriers above the hedge maze being one of these notable cases). The entire map uses several of the server's old maps and builds (including retro-style newer builds) for inspiration while mixing in several of its own spins and ideas to make it unique.
The main aesthetic area of the map is the city, a massive build aimed to look like a Minecraft city that could've been built at the time. It features several different themed sections, such as a plot-based build area similar to Fairville, Lioland, a zoo, and more. Most of the ground-level area is purely aesthetic, with a couple of train station buildings meant to take the player back to the map proper.
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in 2 challenges: 2025 Assortment and Hexa.
Build History[edit]
Started in 2022, wavelyte (at the time, a mod) and Lio3 began the base for what would become this map. It was called Lio and Hannah's Doormaze, and was planned to contain most of what appears in the final build: a difficult checkpoint 0 area that then takes the player up and into the city for the rest of the map. While most of the beginning mazes were built after a few months, the city section proved to be the most difficult section, with the map experiencing several periods of little to no activity. In early 2025, wavelyte set out to do one final push to complete the map and built most of checkpoints 1 and 2 over the next few months.
Trivia[edit]
- In several locations throughout the map, joke name versions of different server players are used. These include mrplant for rmanimal, lilanoquat for Pipanplum, ar_chaic for mod_ern, and so on.
- Several locations are also references to Minr locations and decorations. These include a Hall of Fame, a 4 Corners Dojo spoof, the Path of Enlightenment close to X, and more.
