General[edit]
Gameplay[edit]
The map is split into fifteen different stages, each of which has its own gameplay. There are no progress savers in the map, and the mob arena the map ends with is notoriously difficult. The map has six middle checkpoints, most of which appear near the beginning of the map. The stages are listed below. Stages with checkpoints are marked with a * after the stage number.
- Stage 1 - Haunted Mansion has parkour through a mansion, featuring a large number of ceiling and ladder jumps.
- Stage 2* - Spooky Cemetery has parkour through a small house.
- Stage 3 - Infernal Magma requires solving a puzzle underground and then doing a short parkour section.
- Stage 4* - Abandoned Darkness has a few short parkour sections and then a parkour maze.
- Stage 5 - Pumpkin Parkour has a short parkour segment inside a pumpkin.
- Stage 6* - The Spire of Souls requires getting to the top of a tower.
- Stage 7* - Minty's Manor begins with a short parkour section and then opens to a multi-layer maze.
- Stage 8 - Chillers' Number Game tasks the player with solving three number puzzles.
- Stage 9 - Jsnick's Code Finder requires solving three codes.
- Stage 10* - Towering Magma is a parkour section with lethal jumps above the ground.
- Stage 11 - Rocky Riddles is a section containing three different riddles.
- Stage 12 - Blaze Parkour features ladder parkour on a 3D blaze pixel art.
- Stage 13 - Berserk Wither features parkour on a wither pixel art with a path split halfway up.
- Stage 14* - Ghastly Terror features parkour inside a ghast.
- Stage 15 - Mob Arena requires lasting 5 minutes against endlessly spawning mobs that scale with the number of players in the area.
Aesthetics[edit]
The aesthetic of some areas vary greatly, but the map itself has an overall design with podzol, coarse dirt, stone brick variants, cobblestone variants, dark oak trees, dark oak wood, spruce wood, and spooky blocks like cobwebs and redstone torches. There are several large scale builds in the main area like the stage 1 mansion, a black widow spider, a pumpkin, a blaze, a wither, and a ghast.
Spooky Minr is also one of the first maps to use a resource pack. It changes several sounds to be spookier, such as having crows caw.
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in 4 challenges: Glorious Expedition, Spooked, Hexa Chapter I: Legacy, and Hexa. This map is not contained in any yearly challenges.
Trivia[edit]
- The map was made by 14 different people contributing to individual sections, with the main overseer and area builder being minty1111.
- Due to time crunch, several of the assets seen in the map were obtained from other maps or locations with permission. The clouds resemble those seen in Minr Airlines, a pumpkin pixel art was sourced from Ghidora Manor, and three of the mob pixel arts were sourced from Volcanic Spawn.
- The map was pulled a month or so after release due to issues with the mob arena. It was republished March 11, 2017 with a working mob arena that significantly buffed the section's difficulty. The mob arena in Spooky Minr is still one of the hardest mob fighting sections on the server.
- Spooky Minr is the first of two minty-led halloween maps, with the second being Carnivale a year later.
- Despite the stage numberings here, the in-game count for stages is off by one for nearly half of the stages. This is because Stage 5 is used by accident for The Spire of Souls section.
