General[edit]
Story[edit]
You are an explorer trying to reach the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean, and return alive.
Gameplay[edit]
Mariana is a unique map. The player is given the blindness effect throughout, which limits visibility and removes the ability to sprint.
The map begins with a long but simple parkour section across large coral and patches of seagrass. Most of the jumps are quite easy, with the toughest being a blind yet generous jump to a ladder.
The player now descends a large chimney, being given the slow-falling effect to increase the realism factor. This leads into a small maze which is relatively easy to complete.
Finally, the player must undergo one final parkour section. All the jumps are easy, but falling results in having to redo the map. At the end sign, the player is given the option to see the map without the blindness effect as an added reward for completion.
Aesthetics[edit]
The map is designed to look like an ocean trench. The walls are made out of a mix of stone blocks, prismarine, and dead coral blocks. The ground is sandy and covered in coral. The coral and seagrass platforms are made out of terracotta and its glazed counterpart, wool, and the occasional carpet. Redstone torches light up the map.
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in 4 challenges: Going Up, Out of Breath, 2020 Assortment, and Hexa.
Trivia[edit]
- Mariana is built on a plot of land also containing Pasta, another one of Bird_Obsession's maps.
- There is a speedrun trick at the end of the map which requires clicking the sign which removes the night vision and making a moderately difficult jump to the end platform.
