General[edit]
Gameplay[edit]
Frienemy is a puzzle map that tasks pairs of players with getting through several test chambers to reach the end. Most chambers are split into orange and blue sides, with one player on each side, for the puzzles. Unlike most other maps, players cannot leave unless they click the exit heads in item frames located throughout the map and use the chatprompt.
Aesthetics[edit]
The map is heavily inspired by the look of Portal and mainly uses orange concrete, blue concrete, smooth quartz, sea lanterns, and tinted glass for the aesthetics. Some rooms have GLaDOS NPCs in the middle made using invincible baby zombies.
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in 3 challenges: 2019 Assortment, Beginner Co-op Pack, and Hexa. It is not contained in the Hexalite II challenge due to a decision to remove co-op requirements from that challenge.
Trivia[edit]
- Frienemy is infamous for being a map new players get stuck in often since players need to use item frames to leave instead of commands.
- Frienemy uses Minecraft teams to make player names orange and blue (along with referencing teams in some scripts to distinguish players). Because of this, players in the map mess up the order of players in the tab list.
