General[edit]
Gameplay[edit]
The map begins with the option of doing several different paths, with the shorter routes typically being harder than longer ones. After that, the player must do ladder parkour on pixel art versions of Bowser and Mario to reach the end.
Aesthetics[edit]
The map is made to look like a castle with stone brick walls, a stone brick ceiling, and a lava floor. There are several iron bar windows with white and light gray wool behind them, and the large room uses netherrack and stone buttons in its design. The pixel art is made of different wool colors and dirt blocks.
Map Series[edit]
Retro Runner Mario is one of four maps contained in the Retro Runner hub series.
- Retro Runner Mario
- Retro Runner Pacman
- Retro Runner Sonic
- Retro Runner Tapper
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in 9 challenges: -Insert Quarter-, 2013 Assortment, Odyssey, Pure Pain Marathon - Deluxe, Retro Runner Rush, Sightseeing 2022, The Path of Heroes, Hexa Chapter I: Legacy, and Hexa.
Trivia[edit]
- A tunnel exists behind the entrance that leads to an area which connects the other maps in the series except for Tapper. Due to Fix it Felix, Jr. being the fourth unused tunnel and the shape of the tunnels themselves resembling plugs, it is likely that the map was inspired by Wreck-It Ralph for the overall design and got scrapped to become a four map arcade hub.
