General[edit]
Story[edit]
The story of Bayou revolves around the player searching for the Bayou recluse, Jim. The player meets many other Bayou residents who all mention that Jim lives at the end of the Bayou. Upon finding Jim at the end of the map, the player is invited to relax with Jim by the campfire.
Gameplay[edit]
Bayou primarily uses fence parkour and is one of the few parkour maps to use fence parkour extensively. The map also utilizes lantern parkour and ladder parkour. The map has two checkpoints placed between each third of the map.
Aesthetics[edit]
Bayou uses many spruce variants to create a swampy environment. Many trees dot the landscape and the player will spot animals such as frogs, ducks, and birds throughout the map. In the water, sea lanterns are used to illuminate the water and tree trunks, wood, and dirt are scattered in the water. The walls enclosing the map are made mostly of black-tinted blocks in a similar manner to the black concrete in Wooden Slopes.
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in 3 challenges: Intermediate Parkour Pack, 2020 Assortment, and Hexa.
Trivia[edit]
- In Alfred's house, you can find a schnauzer in the corner. This is a reference to Autre's real-life dog.
- This map could be seen as a baseline for a later map Palus, which expands on a similar swamp environment.
