Detention is an adventure map with parkour, maze, puzzle, and search by pieceofcheese. It rewards 7 FFA Points upon completion, and can be joined using "/c join dtn".
General[edit]
Story[edit]
You were acting silly in your class and the teacher was not amused, sentencing you to stay in the classroom for detention. You must find a way to escape the school and get back home to play video games.
Gameplay[edit]
Detention consists of a variety of challenges including button searching, math, parkour, and maze. The first room of the map is a locked classroom with seemingly no way out, where the player needs to find a way to open the door. It then opens up into a hallway with lockers, where a math problem must be solved to go up into the janitor's secret hideout. After finding a way into the vents, players navigate their way into the next classroom, falling in through the ceiling. This room is easily escaped, going into the other half of the locker hallway. Solving the puzzle in this hallway opens up the way to the gymnasium, which contains parkour jumps into a hole in the wall. This hole leads into the cafeteria, where players must once again find a way to escape. After this, players enter the outside portion of the map, having escaped the school and put onto the road. There is a blockage on the road, so a secret passageway must be found that leads into the forest, which contains the map's only maze. After exiting the maze, there is another search segment followed by a checkpoint and then parkour in a dark underground room. Completing this room takes the player to the final section, the house. After finding the button to open the front door, the map is complete.
Aesthetics[edit]
The first part of the map consists of rooms made of brick and cobblestone. Some rooms, such as the gymnasium and the cafeteria, have walls made of quartz instead of brick. The outside section has a road and some trees, with walls on the side of the road so players cannot escape. The forest maze is dark and made mostly of leaves. The next section is in a small cave, which then opens up into another road. The underground parkour section is made entirely of black wool except for the parkour blocks, which are alternating orange and yellow wool. The final house is made of wood.
Challenges[edit]
This map is featured in four challenges: 2012 Assortment, Class Trip, The Path of Heroes, and Hexa Chapter I: Legacy.
Trivia[edit]
- All of the brick blocks in this map were allocated by hand by taking clay from a nearby river and smelting it.
- The original design of the map had a lot more cobblestone walls, but after Pieceofcheese was promoted to moderator he used his newfound powers to spawn in blocks to change some of the visuals to be less ugly.
- Pieceofcheese's old building area can be seen from the outside section of the map. The last part, next to the house, is so close to Atari that there is a sign on the fence acknowledging it: "Well that looks like a mess."
- The redstone combination locks in this map were not built by Pieceofcheese, and he doesn't remember who made them.
