General
Story
Journey follows the player progressing through a standard Minecraft playthrough. Starting in a forest with a house, then a cave for mining, the nether, the stronghold, and finally the end dimension.
Gameplay
The forest area consists of primarily standard jumps. The most difficult jumps include a slab headhitter jump and a few jumps around blocks. This parkour takes place in the oak trees using spruce slabs. The player then drops down the middle of the tree into the cave section. This section has the player parkouring across spruce platforms hanging from the ceiling. At the end of the cave, the player enters a nether portal into the nether dimension. The mid-checkpoint is located at the beginning of the nether section. Parkour in this section remains standard as the player jumps along nether brick platforms inside and outside of the nether fortress. Lava covers the floor of this section, spelling death for those that fall. At the end of the stronghold, the player is met with a library inside the stronghold. The player then parkours on spruce platforms around the library to the end portal. The end dimension has the player parkour on purpur towers up to the ending drop of the map. The player is teleported to the beginning house an is met with the end sign.
Aesthetics
The starting forest area includes a house made of quartz and oak wood. A farm and brick chimney can be found on one side of the house and a well can be found in a corner. The oak trees are decorated with spruce slabs. In the sky, clouds and birds can be seen. Flowers dot the valley in this opening area. The cave section includes many stone variants to create the cave. A large water pool dotted with seagrass and coral cover the ground. Lanterns are used to light this section and ore veins of various ores can be found along the walls. The player enters the nether dimension through a nether portal, represented by obsidian and purple stained glass panes. The nether is made using standard nether based blocks such as netherrack, glowstone, magma, and soul sand. Lava covers the floor. A large nether fortress hallway is the centrepiece of this section made up of nether brick variants. The player goes through a nether portal, similar to the one at the end of the cave section, and is met with a library inside a stronghold made of stone brick variants. Trivia
- When Journey was first published, a Reward Proposal to change the map to Easy difficulty immediately followed. This caused the creator, Chromonik, to pull the map from FFA to nerf the map to Very Easy difficulty.
- Journey has many player statues scattered throughout the map. These statues represent Minr staff members.
