Athenai's gameplay consists of simple parkour between various pillars and platforms on both the inside and the outside of the temple. There are a large number of ladder jumps in various sections of the map as well. Though the map's jumps are simple, failing will almost always mean the player has to go back to the start.

The stark white is contrasted in places with red netherbrick and accentuated with various polished stones. The surrounding hillside is vibrant, and several forms of plant life can be found growing.
