== Offenses ==

=== Server Rules ===
 +
1. No slurs, hate speech, bigotry, harassment, toxicity, or rude/inappropriate behavior in chat. Chat should be kept spam & advertisement free.
 +

 +
2. Do not answer share, cheat, or ask for hints.
 +

 +
4. Do not grief, steal, or intentionally cause lag.

Offenses are rules that when broken, can result in mutes, kicks, or bans. Punishment lengths are suggestions and staff are allowed to decrease / increase the severity of punishments as they see fit. Punishments are also considered based on the severity and frequency of the infractions. Repeated offenses may lead to permanent bans.
+
5. Do not evade any existing punishments.

=== Using caps lock in excess / spamming chat. ===
+
6. Any world-specific or challenge-specific rules also apply.

*(1 Warning may be given)
+
=== Server Rules (Greens) ===
*Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 1 month ban.
+
These additional rules apply to those who have beaten Hardcore.
**Everyone knows that your keyboard didn’t magically get stuck in caps-lock mode, so don’t use it.

=== Asking for help / food / special powers / OP ===
+
7. Do not re-enter Hardcore under any circumstances.

*(1 Warning may be given)
+
8. Do not use additional permissions to gain an unfair advantage in maps.
*Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 1 month ban.

**We promote internally. You’re not from Planet Minecraft, and your family member doesn’t work for Mojang.

**Many of our maps feature puzzles that can become much easier if the solution is known.

**The exception to this rule is if the players are actively working together on the map. We ask that players use private messages to discuss puzzles and mazes.

=== Swearing in excess / chat topics===
+
9. Spectating other players who are in maps must adhere to server guidelines.

*(1 Warning may be given)
+
10. Changes to live content should not be made without notifying staff and receiving approval.
*Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 3 month ban.

*We understand that challenge servers can be rage-inducing, but members are still expected to behave.

*Swearing is allowed, but the following is not:

**Excess vulgarity / swearing for the sake of it; This is considered spam.

**Derogatory slurs / politics / sexuality.

***Sensitive topics can be discussed on the forums where a more thought out discussion can be facilitated.

**Attacks directed at another player.

=== Harassing other players ===

==Server Rules breakdown ==
*Punishment: ranges from hour long mute to 6 month ban.
+
=== 1. No slurs, hate speech, bigotry, harassment, toxicity, or rude/inappropriate behavior in chat. Chat should be kept spam & advertisement free. ===
**This is pretty self explanatory, don’t bother others if they asked to be left alone.
+
* Discussions about politics or sensitive/divisive topics are not allowed on the server.
**There is a significant different in swearing and swearing at someone, the latter will not be tolerated.
+
* Caps lock is considered spam.
 +
* Begging for special permissions is considered spam.
 +
* Swears are allowed as long as they are not:
 +
** Slurs or bigoted swears.
 +
** Directed at another players.
 +
** Used excessively.
 +
* Rude names or offensive skins are also considered inappropriate behavior.
 +
* There is a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment.

=== Exploiting glitches or large shortcuts ===
+
If you have been [https://forums.minr.org/threads/regarding-sexual-harassment.4511/ harassed in any way] by our players, please reach out to a staff member or fill out a report.

*Punishment: Up to 1 year ban depending on severity (min 3 months)
+
===2. Do not answer share, cheat, or ask for hints.===
**Our maps are rigorously tested for bugs in order to provide a solid platforming experience. However, with the number of updates the server has gone through, mechanics may change allowing for older maps to be played in unintended ways.
+
* Do not post solutions in public or private chats.
**Sometimes due to an oversight by both the testers and the creator, large shortcuts could exist in maps. If, due to the shortcut, the difficulty of the map decreases in any significant way, the shortcut should be reported and not exploited.
+
* Pure Parkour is the only map type that can be recorded.
**If you discover a bug, please report it on the forums.
+
** This is also the only map type where it is okay to ask others for help.
*Using multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages in maps is considered an exploit.
+
* Do not speedrun (non-parkour) maps while players who have not completed the map are present.
 +
** Do not speedrun new (non-parkour) releases if other players are present.

=== Giving answers in public or private chat ===
+
* Working together with another player is allowed under certain conditions:
 +
** The other users must be in the same map, and close by (in most cases this means within eyesight).
 +
** No-one in a party can have completed the content, or all users in a party must have completed the content.
 +
*** For maps divided into levels or stages, content does not equal the whole map.
 +
** An advanced breakdown of scenarios can be found in the FAQ Quiz.

*Punishment: Up to 1 year ban depending on severity (min 1 month)
+
===3. Do not use multiple accounts, hacked clients, glitches, bugs, or exploits.===
**Many of our maps feature puzzles that can become much easier if the solution is known.
+
* Alternate accounts are not allowed.
**The exception to this rule is if the players are actively working together on the map. We ask that players use private messages to discuss puzzles and mazes.
+
** If your main account is compromised or lost, reach out to a staff member.
 +
* Using an alternate account to evade punishments will result in a ban all accounts involved, and a greater punishment for the player.
 +
* Repeated use of alternate accounts may result in an IP ban.
 +
* Any software that modifies the game's content to give the player an advantage over others is considered a hack and is not allowed.
 +
** Performance improvement mods (Ex: Sodium / Optifine) and shaders are allowed.
 +
** Macros that enhance performance or manipulate text are considered hacks, and are not allowed.

== Inexcusables (General) ==

+

 +
* Shortcut: Any method that allows the player to circumvent the original map creator's intended way of completing the map.
 +
* Exploit / Glitch: Any method the player uses to circumvent the game's mechanics, including bringing foreign items into a map, or using commands that are not meant to be used in that map.

=== Advertising for another server ===
+
These terms as a collectively are referred to as a bypass.

*Suggested minimum ban length: 6 months
+
* Any bypass of content should be reported when discovered.
**This is seen on a direct attack on the server, and will result in an immediate ban.
+
** Players should not use bypasses to gain top times on a map.
**Naming a popular server (____craft or ____plex) is allowed in moderation.
+
** When bypasses are discovered, players should make a report on the forums or Discord as soon as possible.
 +
*** Staff may punish players who deliberately hide bypasses.
 +
* Rapidly connecting and disconnecting from the server to avoid damage/negative game-play consequences is considered an exploit.

=== Account swapping ===
+
===4. Do not grief, steal, or intentionally cause lag.===

 +

 +
* Entity Griefing is defined as: Using items or entities in game to lag the server, and is considered a subset of griefing.
 +
** Any other lag-generating machines are not allowed.
 +
* (For applicable worlds) Do not steal from anyone's house or base.

*Suggested minimum ban length: 18 months + account reset
+
===5. Do not evade any existing punishments.===
**Swapping with another player is considered cheating, regardless of circumstances.
+
* Attempting to bypass a punishment will only result in a greater punishment.
 +
* Helping another player evade punishment will result in both members receiving a greater punishment.
 +
* See [https://wiki.minr.org/Server_Rules#I_was_banned_.2F_submitting_an_appeal further below] for how to appeal a ban.

=== Alternate Accounts ===
+
===6. Any world-specific or challenge-specific rules also apply.===
 +
* See the Delta FAQ Quiz for details on rules specific to that world.
 +
* Unprotected builds on any world are not to be touched. Please leave them alone.

*Suggested staff action: ban of alternate account + additional actions based on other rules broken.

**In order to more accurately track players, alternate accounts are not allowed.

**We consider players at the person level, not account level

**Dodging bans will only result in angering staff and longer ban times

**Alternate accounts entering HC may result in additional punishments levied against the person

**With permission from staff, greens may use alternates as part of the map-testing process, but for no other use

If a player was banned, they likely broke one of the rules. In order to get unbanned, they will need to fill out an appeal at: https://forums.minr.org/form/unban-me.2/select. Appeals must be submitted by the player that was banned. Please note that temporary mutes cannot be appealed.

Keep in mind that the banning staff member has first say in your appeal (assuming they are still active, otherwise the admins will become a panel and decide).
+
Players should fill out all information honestly and to the best of their knowledge. Lying will not help their case. In the event that the appeal is accepted and the suggested minimum ban time has not yet elapsed, it is up to staff to determine whether or not the player can come back early. Keep in mind that the banning staff member has first say in the appeal. If the banning staff member cannot be determined, or is no longer active, the owner (or admins via panel) will review the appeal.

Revision as of 17:20, 22 December 2022

In order to give a better understanding and more solid stance on rules, this is the single document defining the rules of zero.minr.org. These rules also extend to the server's Discord, forums, test server, and any affiliated servers. Changes to this document will be announced on the forums and/or Discord.

Staff reserve the right to punish for offenses outside these rules when deemed necessary. These rules are in effect from the moment you join the server, regardless of whether or not you read this page. As with all things on the internet, please keep in mind that what you say / do is recorded in the server's logs; These are not made public, and only reviewed by staff for administrative purposes (reports, applications, etc.).

If a player sees someone breaking the rules, please message a staff member (orange or dark green). Alternatively, players can fill out a report on our forums: forums.minr.org

If you have any questions about these rules, please reach out to a staff member.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the server!

I was banned / submitting an appeal

If a player was banned, they likely broke one of the rules. In order to get unbanned, they will need to fill out an appeal at: https://forums.minr.org/form/unban-me.2/select. Appeals must be submitted by the player that was banned. Please note that temporary mutes cannot be appealed.

Players should fill out all information honestly and to the best of their knowledge. Lying will not help their case. In the event that the appeal is accepted and the suggested minimum ban time has not yet elapsed, it is up to staff to determine whether or not the player can come back early. Responding to an appeal (as a third party)

Third parties should only post if they have relevant information that staff do not have. In short, personal opinions and character testimony are not relevant information.
