General

Gameplay

Maze of Mazes lives up to its title, being 9 small mazes all weaved into one large map. Maze of Mazes does not have linear gameplay; each maze may contain multiple exits, each leading into a new maze.

  • The first maze requires the player to find a button in order to open a path to a new maze.
  • The water maze requires the player to climb up and down pillars of water.
  • The ladder maze requires the player to climb through several floors of pathways via ladders.
  • The spruce maze is a typical 2D maze, in which the player has to find an exit the old fashioned way.
  • The door maze functions similarly to maps such as Soar's Doormaze, using iron doors and pressure plates in order to create one-way hallways.
  • The darkness maze requires the player to roam around rooms in low visibility.
  • The ice maze combines many different maze elements, but its main focus revolves around the player taking water tunnels to reach different sections.
  • The temple maze requires the player to run through small corridors.
  • The overgrown maze requires the player to roam cave-like hallways.

Aesthetics

  • The spruce maze is a typical snowy taiga forest. The walls are made of spruce wood and the ceiling is made out of spruce leaves. The ground is lined with snow and grass.
  • The door maze consists of a simple palette: black terracotta and black concrete.
  • The darkness maze has rooms resembling clouds, using various white blocks.
  • The ice maze is the most detailed maze of the map, containing snowy-looking blocks such as ice and dead coral.
  • The temple maze has the palette of a typical desert temple.

Trivia

  • Maze of Mazes was inspired by Wolly Mammoth by Kaddekes, a maze with a similar concept.
  • Though Big_Big_So_Big was the primary creator of the map, he got a little help from Chayos on the ice maze.
