The whole idea of Departure is to find a way to kill yourself without using the conventional method /kill. Throughout the map, the player will be put in 16 different unique situations, with the task of killing themself in every room. Departure is a good starter map for puzzles as it is a very simple concept, and easy to understand.

Each room in Departure is completely different aesthetic wise, with the first puzzle room being a mix of snow and ice, another room is set in a nether biome with a mix of netherrack and soulsand, with fire and lava placed around the room. Another map is based on a miniature mineshaft that a player may find while mining in survival. Another room is a small oak forest with small pools of water.
