Introduction

In order to give a better understanding and more solid stance on rules, this is the single document defining the rules of zero.minr.org. If an Administrator makes changes to this document, please let the rest of the team know on discord. An additional list of questions can be found on the forums at https://forums.minr.org/faq/ and the FAQ room below spawn. If you see someone breaking the rules, please message a staff member (orange) or fill out a report on our website, minr.org Thanks for reading, and enjoy the server!

Offenses

Offenses are rules that when broken, can result in mutes, kicks, or bans. Punishment lengths are suggestions and staff are allowed to decrease / increase the severity of punishments as they see fit. Punishments are also considered based on the severity and frequency of the infractions. Repeated offenses may lead to permanent bans.

Using caps lock in excess / spamming chat.

  • (1 Warning may be given)
  • Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 1 month ban.
    • Everyone knows that your keyboard didn’t magically get stuck in caps-lock mode, so don’t use it.

Asking for help / food / special powers / OP

  • (1 Warning may be given)
  • Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 1 month ban.
    • We promote internally. You’re not from Planet Minecraft, and your family member doesn’t work for Mojang.
    • Many of our maps feature puzzles that can become much easier if the solution is known.
    • The exception to this rule is if the players are actively working together on the map. We ask that players use private messages to discuss puzzles and mazes.

Swearing in excess

  • (1 Warning may be given)
  • Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 3 month ban.
    • We understand that challenge servers can be rage-inducing, but members are still expected to behave.
    • The more extreme swears are not allowed, highlight the following text for some allowed words:
    • Damn, crap, shit, etc

Harassing other players

  • (1 Warning may be given)
  • Punishment: ranges from hour long mute to 6 month ban.
    • This is pretty self explanatory, don’t bother others if they asked to be left alone.
    • There is a significant different in swearing and swearing at someone, the latter will not be tolerated.

Exploiting glitches or large shortcuts

  • Punishment: Up to 1 year ban depending on severity (min 3 months)
    • Our maps are rigorously tested for bugs in order to provide a solid platforming experience. However, with the number of updates the server has gone through, mechanics may change allowing for older maps to be played in unintended ways.
    • Sometimes due to an oversight by both the testers and the creator, large shortcuts could exist in maps. If, due to the shortcut, the difficulty of the map decreases in any significant way, the shortcut should be reported and not exploited.
    • If you discover a bug, please report it on the forums.

Giving answers in public or private chat

  • Punishment: Up to 1 year ban depending on severity (min 1 month)
    • Many of our maps feature puzzles that can become much easier if the solution is known.
    • The exception to this rule is if the players are actively working together on the map. We ask that players use private messages to discuss puzzles and mazes.

Inexcusables (General)

Inexcusables are offenses that escalate directly to a ban (without warnings) in most cases and are permanent until appealed. These include:

Advertising for another server

  • Suggested minimum ban length: 6 months
    • This is seen on a direct attack on the server, and will result in an immediate ban.
    • Naming a popular server (____craft or ____plex) is allowed in moderation.

Account swapping / use of alternate accounts

  • Suggested minimum ban length: 9 months + account reset
    • In order to more accurately track players, alternate accounts are not allowed.
    • Swapping with another player is considered cheating, regardless of circumstances.

Use of gameplay altering mods

  • Suggested minimum ban length: 1 Year + account reset
    • This includes things like minimaps, freecams, hacked clients, etc.
    • Optifine, shaders, and music modifiers are allowed as they do not change the mechanics of the game.
    • Music modifiers may make certain maps uncompletable in their intended state.

Inexcusables (For Greens)

Re-entering any part of hardcore

  • Suggested minimum ban length: 2 years
    • Even if you don’t interact with anyone this is still very incriminating

Griefing any part of the map

  • Suggested minimum ban length: 4 years
    • This is one of the oldest servers in existence, with the number of griefing incidents being in the single digits, please don’t add onto that list.

I was banned / submitting an appeal

If you were banned, then you most likely broke one of the rules. In order to get unbanned, you will need to fill out an appeal at: https://forums.minr.org/forms/unban-me.1/respond

Keep in mind that the banning staff member has first say in your appeal (assuming they are still active, otherwise the admins will become a panel and decide).

Fill out all information honestly and to the best of your knowledge, lying will not help your case. In the event that your appeal is accepted and the minimum time duration has not yet elapsed, it is up to the admins on whether or not you can come back early.

Responding to an appeal (as a third party)

Only post if you have relevant information. This can include who the banning staff member was, linking to previous appeals / screenshots, etc. Unless you are one of the parties involved with the ban, your opinion is not relevant information.
