=== Code of conduct ===
 +
1. No slurs, hate speech, bigotry, harassment, toxicity, or rude/inappropriate behavior in chat. Chat should be kept spam & advertisement free.

Offenses are rules that when broken, can result in warnings, mutes, kicks, or bans. Punishment lengths are suggestions and staff are allowed to increase or decrease the severity of punishments as they see fit. Staff are also allowed to bypass warnings if they see fit. The severity and frequency of infractions can also affect punishments. Repeated offenses may lead to an indefinite ban. '''Unless otherwise stated, all bans are permanent until appealed!''' Jump to [https://wiki.minr.org/Server_Rules#I_was_banned_.2F_submitting_an_appeal I was banned / submitting an appeal] for more information on appealing a ban.

*Punishment: ranges from 15 minute mute to 1 month temp ban.

*Punishment may escalate to a ban on repeated offenses.

*Suggested appeal time: 3 months.

**Everyone knows that keyboards don't magically get stuck in caps-lock mode, so don’t use that as an excuse.

=== Asking for help / food / special powers / OP ===
+
5. Do not evade any existing punishments.

*Punishment: Warning, escalated to mute or temp-ban lasting up to 1 month.
+
6. Any world-specific or challenge-specific rules also apply.

*Swearing is allowed, but the following is not:

**Excess vulgarity / swearing for the sake of it; This is considered spam.

**Derogatory slurs / politics / sexuality / mature, NSFW, or lewd subject matter.

***Sensitive topics can be discussed on the forums where a more thought out discussion can be facilitated.

***Depending on severity, users will be given an opportinuty to change the offending name or skin before being banned.

=== 1. No slurs, hate speech, bigotry, harassment, toxicity, or rude/inappropriate behavior in chat. Chat should be kept spam & advertisement free. ===
 +
* Discussions about politics or sensitive/divisive topics are not allowed on the server.
 +
* Caps lock is considered spam.
 +
* Begging for special permissions is considered spam.
 +
* Swears are allowed as long as they are not:
 +
** Slurs or bigoted swears.
 +
** Directed at another players.
 +
** Used excessively.
 +
* There is a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment.

Our maps are rigorously tested for bugs in order to provide a solid platforming experience. However, with the number of updates the server has gone through, mechanical changes allow for older maps to be played in unintended ways.
+
If you have been [https://forums.minr.org/threads/regarding-sexual-harassment.4511/ harassed in any way] by our players, please reach out to a staff member or fill out a report.

*A shortcut is defined as any method that allows the player to circumvent the original map creator's intended way of completing the map. The primary cause of shortcuts is usually design flaws.
+
===2. Do not answer share, cheat, or ask for hints.===
*A skip (or glitch) is defined as any method that allows a player to skip a significant portion of a map. The primary cause of skips is usually game mechanics changing, or player skills evolving over time.
+
* Do not post solutions in public or private chats.
*An exploit is defined as any method the player uses to circumvent the game's mechanics. This can include brining foreign items into a map, or using commands that are not meant to be used in that map.
+
* Pure Parkour is the only map type that can be recorded.
**Exploits can only be performed with deliberate action, and are therefore, always considered to be rule breaking.
+
** This is also the only map type where it is okay to ask others for help.
**Skips are normally obvious in nature, and are expected to be reported to staff when discovered.
+
* Do not speedrun maps while new players are present.
**Shortcuts may not be noticed by all players, but anyone repeating a map multiple times (or Speedrunning a map) is expected to have learned the intended route and recgonize unintended shortcuts and skips.
+
** Do not speedrun new (non-parkour) releases if other players are present.
*If an issue is discovered, please report it on the forums.

*Players that knowingly use skips or exploits are expected to report them '''within the day of discovering them'''.

 +
* Working together with another player is allowed under certain conditions:
 +
** The other users must be in the same map, and close by (In most cases this means within eyesight).
 +
** No-one in a party can have completed the content, or all users in a party must have completed the content.
 +
*** For maps divided into levels or stages, content does not equal the whole map.
 +
** An advanced breakdown of scenarios can be found in the FAQ Quiz.

*Using multiple accounts to gain advantages in maps is considered an exploit.
+
===3. Do not use multiple accounts, hacked clients, glitches, bugs, or exploits.===
*Any maps that involve preparing or setting up sections for faster completion are considered skips.
+
* Alternate accounts are not allowed.
*Rapidly connecting and disconnecting from server to avoid damage/negative gameplay consequences is considered an exploit.
+
** If your main account is compromised or lost, reach out to a staff member.
 +
* Using an alternate account to evade punishments will result in a ban of both accounts, and a greater punishment for the player.
 +
* Repeated use of alternate accounts may result in an IP ban.
 +
* Any software that modifies the game's content to give the player an advantage over others is considered a hack and is not allowed.
 +
** Performance improvement mods (Ex: Sodium [without Fabric's API] / Optifine) and shaders are allowed.
 +
** Macros that enhance performance or manipulate text are considered hacks, and are not allowed.

=== Giving answers in public or private chat ===

*Punishment: Warning, escalating to ban.
+
Definitions & Info:
*Suggested appeal time: 1-12 months, depending on severity.
+
* Skip: Any method that allows a player to avoid playing a portion of a map.
**Many of our maps feature challenges that become much easier if the solution is known.
+
* Shortcut: Any method that allows the player to circumvent the original map creator's intended way of completing the map.
**The exception to this rule is if the players both have completed the map, or are actively working together on the map. In most cases, this means being in the same section of a map, and within eyesight of the other player. Players should use private messages (/msg and /r) to discuss puzzles and mazes.
+
* Exploit / Glitch: Any method the player uses to circumvent the game's mechanics, including bringing foreign items into a map, or using commands that are not meant to be used in that map.

=== Knowledge of hacking / cheating / shortcuts ===
+
These terms as a collectively are referred to as a bypass.
In the event that staff determine a player knows of another user that is breaking the rules (in relation to playing fairly) but chose not to report them, they may be punished for the equivalent offense. It is important to staff that we fix exploits and shortcuts in a timely manner.

===IP bans===
+
* Any bypass of content should be reported when discovered.
IP bans may be issued by staff in any instance where 1 or more accounts are committing infractions from the same location. IP bans can only be overturned with an appeal.
+
** Players should not use bypasses to gain top times on a map.
 +
** When bypasses are discovered, players should make a report on the forums or discord as soon as possible.
 +
*** Staff may punish players who deliberately hide bypasses.
 +
* Rapidly connecting and disconnecting from the server to avoid damage/negative game-play consequences is considered an exploit.

== Inexcusables (General) ==
+
===4. Do not grief, steal, or intentionally cause lag.===
 +
* Griefing is defined as: Destruction without purpose, or undermining another player's gaming experience.
 +
** This includes but is not limited to: Flooding water/lava over structures, or destroying another player's build.
 +
* Entity Griefing is defined as: Using items or entities in game to lag the server, and is considered a subset of griefing.
 +
** Any other lag generating machines are not allowed.
 +
* (For applicable worlds) Do not steal from anyone's house or base.

Inexcusables are offenses that can escalate directly to a ban (without warnings) in most cases and are indefinite until appealed. These include:
+
===5. Do not evade any existing punishments.===
 +
* Attempting to bypass a punishment will only result in a greater punishment.
 +
* Helping another player evade punishment will result in both members receiving a greater punishment.
 +
* See [https://wiki.minr.org/Server_Rules#I_was_banned_.2F_submitting_an_appeal further below] for how to appeal a ban.

=== Advertising for another server ===

*Suggested appeal time: 6 months.
+
===6. Any world-specific or challenge-specific rules also apply.===
**This is seen on a direct attack on the server, and will result in an immediate ban.
+
* See the Delta FAQ Quiz for details on rules specific to that world.
**Naming a popular server (____craft or ____plex) is allowed in moderation.
+
* Unprotected builds on any world are not to be touched. Please leave them alone.
*This applies to advertising other discord servers as well.

=== Account swapping ===

*Suggested appeal time: 12 months.
+
==Green Code of Conduct breakdown.==
*This may result in the user's account being reset.
+
===7. Do not re-enter hardcore under any circumstances.===
**Swapping with another player is considered cheating, regardless of circumstances.
+
* The exception to this is with staff approval, or staff supervision.

=== Alternate Accounts / Ban Evasion / Impersonating staff ===
+
===8. Do not use additional permissions to gain an unfair advantage in maps.===
 +
* Do not set homes in maps unless they are within clicking distance of the start sign.
 +
* Do not take unintended movement mechanics (Elytra, Ender Pearls, Creative/Spectator, etc.) into maps or spawn.
 +
** Map creators may enter their maps to fix issues as defined in rule 10.
 +
* Do not use creative or spectator inside any map, unless spectating another player as defined in rule 9.

*Suggested staff action: ban of alternate account + additional actions based on other rules broken.
+
===9. Spectating other players who are in maps must adhere to server guidelines.===
*Using an alternate account or ban evading may result in the user's account being reset.
+
* The person being spectated must give their consent.
**In order to more accurately track players, alternate accounts are not allowed.
+
* Greens cannot spectate in maps they have not completed.
**We consider players at the individual level, not account level.
+
* In parkour maps, the spectator may show the player how to perform a jump.
**Dodging bans will only result in angering staff and longer ban times.
+
** No other assistance can be given by the spectator.
**Alternate accounts entering HC may result in additional punishments levied against the individual.

**With permission from staff, greens may use alternates as part of the map-testing process, but for no other use.

*Impersonating staff can be met with a permanent ban.

=== Use of gameplay altering mods ===
+
===10. Changes to live content should not be made without notifying staff and receiving approval.===
 +
* Minor visual changes that do not change the gameplay are acceptable, but larger visual changes must be approved in advance.
 +
** Large changes changes may result in temporary removal of the map from FFA for additional review.
 +
* Any gameplay changes requires staff review.
 +
** Again, large changes may result in temporary removal of the map from FFA for additional review.
 +
* Approval is not needed to patch skips.
 +
** If the skip was identified on the forums, please reply to the thread.

*Suggested appeal time: 12 months.
+
== About bans ==
*This may result in the user's account being reset.
+
Unless otherwise stated, '''bans are permanent'''.
**This includes things like minimaps, freecams, hacked clients, etc.

**Optifine, shaders, and music modifiers are allowed as they do not change the mechanics of the game.

**Visual or musical modifications to a player's client can make certain maps uncompletable in their intended state.

If a player was banned, they likely broke one of the rules. In order to get unbanned, they will need to fill out an appeal at: https://forums.minr.org/form/unban-me.2/select. Appeals must be submitted by the player that was banned. Please note that temporary mutes cannot be appealed.

Players should fill out all information honestly and to the best of their knowledge. Lying will not help their case. In the event that the appeal is accepted and the suggested minimum ban time has not yet elapsed, it is up to staff to determine whether or not the player can come back early.

Keep in mind that the banning staff member has first say in the appeal. If the banning staff member cannot be determined, or is no longer active, the owner (or admins via panel) will decide.

In most cases there is a three appeal limit, although there have been a few historical exceptions. Any appeal past the third requires a 100% unanimous approval by a multi-admin panel (lead by the server owner) to judge the case. The owner reserves the right to automatically deny appeals past the third.

Revision as of 01:04, 13 March 2022

In order to give a better understanding and more solid stance on rules, this is the single document defining the rules of zero.minr.org. If a player sees someone breaking the rules, please message a staff member (orange or dark green). Alternatively, players can fill out a report on our forums: forums.minr.org

If you have any questions on these rules, please reach out to a staff member.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the server!

Rule 7 (Re-entering HC) 24 Months

I was banned / submitting an appeal

If the banning staff member cannot be determined, or is no longer active, the owner (or admins via panel) will review the appeal.

In most cases there is a three appeal limit. The owner reserves the right to automatically deny appeals past the third.

Responding to an appeal (as a third party)

Third parties should only post if they have relevant information that staff do not have. In short, personal opinions and character testimony are not relevant information.
