After sitting in detention for 8 hours, the player must escape the school.

Detention 2 is a lengthy map featuring a variety of gameplay types. Most of the map requires solving different puzzles with some uses of other gameplay types (usually search). Once the player reaches checkpoint 1, gameplay changes to mainly feature the parkour, search, and maze maptypes. Just before the end is one major puzzle to escape the school.

Most of the map takes place in a large school called Minr High with polished diorite ceilings, stone walls, and smooth stone floors. The underground area of the school uses stone brick variants, stone, cobblestone, gravel, and lava.
