The maze is primarily based on a "changing maze", created using doors that close or open upon the changing of day and night. The goal is to climb up to obsidian, however there are multiple ways up to obsidian and only one correct one.

The maze's lower level is made up of rooms of different colors of terracotta, with lighting provided by torches on the ground. The upper level is made up almost entirely of obsidian, with an open sky ceiling.
