Cake Quake features gameplay of several different types. The beginning starts with the infamous maze the map has before doing a parkour. The section after requires hitting a series of buttons in sequence for four rooms. There is then the map's only middle checkpoint, followed by a water navigation section and parkour around a candle to reach the end sign at the top.

The map takes place in and on a giant cake. The cake is made of glowstone and different wool colors, with brown, white, and red wool being the main wool colors used.
